Young Kaleb Sylvester (07/03/94 - 08/10/07) was killed when he was run over by a dump truck at a construction site where his grandfather had given him a summer job. Having been sick recently, he apparently had passed out and was lying on the ground behind the truck. The truly tragic aspect is that it was his grandfather driving the truck.
The town was devastated. Kaleb was well known and loved by his classmates and the community. The Sylvester family has been here for many generations.
Kaleb was a big baseball fan, which provided the inspiration for this most appropriate memorial, a public ball field created from an unused farm field, where Kaleb's favorite sport can be enjoyed by everyone.
