It is said Roger Williams Doolittle offered the Doolittle family burial ground as the final resting place for the Confederate Soldiers. His daughter Julia was working as a nurse at the hospital and fell in love with a doctor at the Confederate hospital, Albert Puckett. They are both buried here.

Doolittle C.S.A. Cemetery In this cemetery which has been maintained by the Doolittle family since antebellum times, are buried about 100 Confederate soldiers who died at military hospitals during the siege of Vicksburg.
