The worst mass killing in Seattle history, the Wah Mee Massacre, happened in the basement of this building on February 18, 1983, resulting in 13 people killed and 1 person injured.

On February 18, 1983, three armed, young Chinese American men entered the historic Wah Mee gambling club in Seattle's Chinatown. They walked away with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, leaving 14 people for dead. One of the victims survived and testified during what were arguably the three highest-profile trials Seattle had ever seen.

The door shown in the picture is the entrance to the Wah Mee Club. It has been locked since the investigation was completed in 1983. The door has never been opened since.
