One side of the water tower has "Sauk Centre" and the other "Original Main Street". It was built in 1977 and is benchmarked as QP1318
(visit link) .

Sauk Centre has a population of about 4000. Sinclair Lewis, a novelist and Nobel Prize winner was born and raised here. Sauk Centre was the inspiration his 1920 novel Main Street.
