History
The station was opened on 14 May 1845 and is located on the Rhijnspoorweg (Amsterdam-Elten (Emmerich), the Staatslijn A (Arnhem - Leeuwarden) also known as the Ijssellijn and the Arnhem - Nijmegen line. The station opened at the same time as the Rhijnspoorweg.
The station is the main station of Arnhem, and at present, has around 40,000 passengers using that use the station, this makes it the 9th busiest station in Holland.
Future
In the future, around 2011, the plan is to open a new station area below the platforms and rename the station Arnhem Centraal. There are also plans to add a 4th island platform.
On 1 October 2006, the temporary station opened, a colourful building, with a few shops on either side of the pathway. To reach the station you have to use the stairs or lifts, which go over the railway lines and then down onto the platforms.- Wikkipedia
