[FR] Réplique d'une colonne du IIIe siècle après JC découverte en 1878 à Merten.
Erigée rue Serpenoise, l'antique "Via Scarponensis", dans l'axe du "Cardo Maximus" du Metz Gallo-romain.
Son socle est décoré des statues d'Apollon, Junon, Minerve et Hercule et son chapiteau des bustes des saisons.
A son sommet, un Jupiter-Cavalier, assimilé au dieu gaulois Taranis, terrassant l'Anguipède, monstre à buste d'homme et corps de serpent.
Symbôle de la civilisation gallo-romaine, elle évoque la prospérité et le renouveau.
L'original est présenté au musée de la "Cour d'Or" à Metz.
Inaugurée le 10 février 1989 par Monsieur Jean-Marie Rausch, maire de Metz, ministre du commerce extérieur, en présence de Monsieur François Grasmuck, maire de Merten et de son conseil municipal.

[ENG] Replica of a column of the third century AD, discovered in 1878 in Merten.
Built Serpenoise Street, the ancient "Via Scarponensis", in line with the "Cardo Maximus" of the Gallo-Roman Metz.
Its base is decorated with statues of Apollo, Juno, Minerva and Hercules and its big busts of the seasons.
At its peak, a Jupiter-Cavalier, likened the Gallic god Taranis, Anguipède the slaying, monster bust of man and snake body.
Symbol of the Gallo-Roman civilization, it evokes the prosperity and renewal.
The original is in the museum of the "Cour d'Or" at Metz.
Launched February 10, 1989 by Jean-Marie Rausch, Mayor of Metz, Minister of Foreign Trade, in the presence of Mr François Grasmuck Mayor Merten and his council.
