Wild Oceans is owned by the Thompson family who started in the seafood restaurant business back in 1976. They opened a wonderful resaurant on the river in Titusville called SandPoint. It was near Marina Park and also near their boat building businesses which were T-Craft and Thompson Trawlers. Their entire family was involved in the operation of the boat building and resaurant industries. Rodney and MaryJean (the patriarch and matriarch) with their children Lauralee, Sherrie, and the twins Tim and Tom worked hard at running the best restaurant in town and providing the freshest seafood. They sold SandPoint to Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty and after a couple years of a non-compete clause, they opened Dixie Crossroads on Garden Street in Titusville. Their fishing and shrimping fleet grew and became famous locally for providing a wide variety of fresh seafood. They opened the retail seafood business (now called Wild Oceans) and it has grown larger with each year.
The artist who did the murals which are on almost every square inch of external storefront (as well as inside behind the seafood counter) is Al Rao, an artist of Italian descent who has been in the area as long as I can remember. He also did (maybe still does) do interior faux finishes for businesses and residential clients.
