About the sculpture from the inventory: "The sculpture was created by Larry Foster in 1976 or 1977. Valerie Cross provided design assistance; Jacks Sims did the construction. Prior to the sculpture's installation on the University campus in 1987, the sculpture had been used as an educational tool and exhibited at Fort Mason Golden Gate National Recreation Area, San Francisco. Visitors climb on the sculpture. Sections of the tail have broken off in the past and been repaired. The 1994 SOS! survey reports that the resin finish on the sculpture was recently redone by the artist."
