There are many abandoned farms on Dartmoor, farms were mainly abandoned when the mines closed, farmers used to subsidise their income by working in the nearby mines. Some farmers bred rabbits to sell to the miners, so when the mines closed many of the farms were abandoned.
This isolated farm has been a ruin for many years; it was a single storey granite and thatch cottage. This was a working farm from about 1808 until 1940; it was used by the military for a while and then in 1971 the farm was demolished.
