The St. Paul's Episcopal Church parish was established in 1830. It is the third oldest in Alabama diocese. The Church consecrated in 1843 by Leonidas Polk, Bishop of Louisiana who later was a Confederate general. It was here that Nicholas H. Cobbs was chosen first Bishop of Alabama in 1844. The church is well maintained and continues to serve its congregation.
