In the center of Norwood, at the corner of Washington Street and Nahatan Street is the Norwood Memorial Municipal Building. This building is a multi-story building made of stone and has a tall square bell tower with four spires, one at each corner.

The cornerstone was laid in 1927 (as spelled out on the stone near the ground) and the building was built in 1928 (by the shield over the entrance archway and the bronze plaque in the entrance archway).

The plaque in the entrance area state states that the architect was William G. Upham. The contractor was the Edward F. Miner Building Company. Other names that were on the Building Committee are also on the plaque. The building was dedicated "to commemorate the patriotism and valor of the Men and Women from Norwood who served our country in time of war."

The tower is designed in the neo-gothic architecture. The bell tower is 170 feet high and has a 50-bell carillon. There is a nice auditorium with stained glass windows in the Washington Street wing of the building.
