The display gardens lead to two miles of nature trails that meander from wetlands traversed by a raised boardwalk to groves of ornamental and exotic trees and shrubs and evergreen forests.

Near the western end of the park, the Outer Loop becomes a pleasant boardwalk through the Vincent Arbraitys Wetland Study Area, extending several hundred feet between stands of skunk cabbage and cattails. The raised wooden walkway splits in two, either branch taking you across a brook and onto a woodland path. Going to the right, you will pass a small pond, and return to the point just outside the display gardens close to the entrance of the arboretum.
