The windows vary in colour and size with the east window being a single light in a triple light design. Several other true single light windows appear around the church. These are brightly coloured and include St Luke, a winged warrior, a simple shield and memorial panel to Romola Russell.
Dating to the 13th century St Michael's church was thoroughly restored in 1857 and 1864 by Butterfield. It is built of ironstone and has an image niche in the north east corner of the north aisle by Sir Albert Richardson, the famous architect who is buried in the churchyard.
