Mt McDonald Trig 794m
A mountain once covered by pine forest with a fire spotting tower at the top. The 2003 fires destroyed both those.
As there was a fire spotting tower at the top. There are commanding views over the Cotter and Uriarra districts. Parts of Canberra are also visible.
The Mt Stromlo observatory is also visible.
If you look carefully on the trig marker you will notice a reflective prism. I guess this is used by the laser ranging station on Mt Stromlo.
Access can be gained by following one of the several fire trails to the top from Brindabella road.
