This sign is outside of the Huntertown town hall and reads as follows:

Huntertown, Indiana
Platted 1869
First called,"The Opening", a natural clearing in the forest, settled in 1837.
On the old Lima Plank Road connecting Howe (Lima) and Fort Wayne.
Home of the Perry Centre Seminary, founded 1856 band closed 1861 when th entire faculty and all the adult students enlisted in the Union Army.
Group that erected the marker: Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society
