At the corner of River Street and Maple Street in the center of the Hyde Park section of Boston, stands a stone structure that is the Christ Church/Iglesia de Cristo.

In January of 1893, Bishop Phillips Brooks, a well known religious figure in the area, started fundraising efforts to build a church in Hyde Park (then a separate town). The church was designed by Ralph Adams Cram, who also designed the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. In 1894, the church was opened for services.

A letter by Father John [Kaoma] on the church web site provides a cross section of the congregation that meets there:

Our Church brings together different gifts from different parts of the Anglican Communion. Our membership comes from Africa, Latin America, Europe, the Caribbean and the USA. With such a diverse background, our worship services are enriched spiritually, culturally and ethnically. As committed Christians, we seek to honor and know Christ in each person and oppose all sorts of discriminations and isms. Just as Christ welcomed all, we welcome all God’s people to worship in freedom. Our goal is to build the body of Christ in the broken world for a broken people of all races.

According to the web site, there is morning prayer on Sunday at 8:00 am, and Holy Eucharist is at 10:00 am. A Spanish service is held at 12:00 noon. However, on the 4th Sunday of the month, there is a combined service for both congregations at 10:00 am.

I have been in this church for a Christmas celebration.
