The 'Model Club', Pattaya, Thailand. - Neon Signs on Waymarking.com

The 'Model Club' has a large sign over its entrance way. This is a new club in a complex of newly built clubs and bars, near Soi Six. What struck me was that there were at least three large 'VIP' buses parked outside, with hordes of what looked to be Chinese tourists being lead inside this place.

Mystified, I asked one of the Thai guys on the door what the deal was. He told me 'Many beautiful ladies inside to look at.' Price 600 baht ! 600b = us$15 ! That is a lot of money in Pattaya (a beer in most bars is 50b). In a family rated website such as waymarking.com I will not say exactly what 600b will get you, but certainly more than a look at a map of Tasmania, as we say in Australia (http://www.tas.gov.au/tasmaniaonline/about/map.asp -- you get the idea.

Contrary to pop culture beliefs nothing particularly, really naughty happens in Pattaya. Also, this middle-aged crowd did not look particularly wild, more like a group of accountants. My conclusion is that the place is a rip off. These guys are bused in on a tourist company packaged tour (the cliche about Asian tourists and tour groups is largely true). They sit down, watch some exotic dancing for an hour or two, order several overpriced beers and a snack or three, stuff way too much money into a dancers g-string, and then finally head back to their hotel. Happy, happy.

I am not sure about the longevity of this club, nor its neighbours. They seem to rely on busses and tour groups. However, the sign is certainly big and bright. If someone choses to hand over 600b, let me know what you find inside.
