This statue and memorial honors the veterans of all wars, from the War Between the States to the Gulf War. It was originally designed as a Civil War monument. It also honors all branches of the military - the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines, and Air Force. The statue atop the pedestal depicts a Union Civil War soldier.
At the base is a tribute to the subsequent wars, WW I, WW II, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Gulf War. Traditionally, the annual Memorial Day and Christmas Parades that take place, end at this spot. Flowers and wreaths decorate the monument on Memorial Day. During the winter holiday season a Christmas tree and Menorah are placed beside the memorial. Artist: E. B. Koch, sculptor Dates: Commissioned April 15, 1891. Dedicated May 30, 1892. Medium: Figure: Westerly granite; Base: barre granite on mortared stone.

 Description of Memorial: The monument is set in a small triangular plot of ground located in the center of town, just in front of the Flemington Presbyterian Church. A cannon and flag pole stand beside the memorial. The statue and Civil War portion of the memorial rest on a base dedicated to the later wars and all military branches.
