Lea Yeat plaques reads
"Cowgill Institute
formerly Lea Yeat Meeting House
of the
Society of Friends
1702 - 1912"
Built from typical materials found in this valley. Sandstone blocks for the walls and sandstone flags covering the roof.
In 1911 the meetings ended and the house was sold as village institute. During this time the locals loved playing billiards here. In 1970s the house was sold again to be a private residence, with the clauses stating that the burial ground "be used as a garden" and the property "not be a place of entertainment".
There was a burial ground in the garden. A book of all who are buried there is held in the house.
