The following is the deed that transferred the cemetery to the care of the Milligan College organization.

CARTER COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - Deed for Williams Cemetery—Milligan College - Land Deed Williams Cemetery—Milligan College

This Indenture, made the 15th day of June A.D. 1909, between Geo. F.
Williams of Milligan, Carter Co. in the State of Tennesse of the first part and Jas. A. Hendrix, C. M. Beavers, R. C. Williams, Mrs. Ollie E. Givens and Geo. T. Williams constituting a board of Trustees and their successors of Milligan Carter County, Tennessee of the second part.
Witnesseth, that the said party of the first part, for and in
consideration of a gift or donation has given, granted, donated and
conveyed, and does hereby give, grant, donate and convey unto the said parties of the second part the following described premises, to wit,situated in District No. 5 of Carter County, Tennessee at Milligan. Being the same piece of land known as the Williams graveyard or cemetery. Beginning on a stake near a double oak. Thence North 76 ½ foot east, 7 poles and 2 links to a stake. Thence north 10 foot, West 10 poles and 4 links to a stake. Thence South 75 West 7 poles and 2 links to a stake. Thence South 10 East , 10 poles and 1 link the beginning.

It is further mutually agreed and understood by the vendors and vendee,that said property herein conveyed and described, shall be used
exclusively for cemetery purposes and none other and said property shall be known or called, "The Williams Cemetery."

It is also further provided and understood that set Trustees shall hold their office or offices during their natural lives unless by
resignations or removal from said neighborhood, so they cannot act or
have oversight over said cemetery. And in the event of either case of
one or more of said Trustees. The said Trustees so surviing shall hold an election to fill such vacancy or vacancies and a majority shall govern the election of his or their successors in office. It is the earnest desire and request of the bargainor, your uncle and father, that in his absence and after his death, that you give this dear spot of land your special care and attention and care for the same as he has endeavored to do and that you hand this down with these requests to the subsequent generations with the hereditaments and appurtinances thereto appertaining, hereby releasing all claims to homestead and dowere therein. To have and to hold the said premises to the said parties of the second part, their successors in office forever. And the said party of the first part, for himself and for his heirs, executors and administrators does hereby covenant with the said parties of the second part their successors, that he lawfully seized in fee simple of the premises above conveyed and has full power, authority and right to convey the same, that said premises are free from all encumbrances and that he will forever warrant and defend the said premises and title thereto against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In Witness whereof, the said party of the first part has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written,

A notary Public in and for said County, the within named bargainor Geo.T. Williams with whom I am personally acquainted,k and who acknowledged that he executed the within instrument for the purpose therein contained.
