The wind vane contains the lettering Flint & Walling Mfg. Co., Kendallville, Ind. U.S.A.

The Flint & Walling Mfg. Co. was incorporated in 1866 as a manufacturer of hand operated water pumps. The company later sold windmills throughout North and South America, Asia, and Europe. Today they still sell pumps for wells and other purposes. As of 2009, they had been in the water systems business for 143 continuous years.
