The Jersey Shore has been the vacation playground of much of the East Coast for over 100 years. Visitors from New York, Philadelphia, and even as far away as Canada make ritual visits to the Shore every year. The northern towns were the stomping grounds of Bruce Springsteen - the towns to the south are more laid back until reaching 'the Vegas of the East'...Atlantic City - further south still are more 'boardwalk' towns, with the Victorian town of Cape May at the southern tip.

The Jersey Shore is popular due to the fact that it is within a few hours drive of most of the large cities in the Mid-atlantic region. Well-known boardwalks include those at Seaside Heights, Atlantic City, Ocean City, and Wildwood. Other towns have smaller boardwalks (as does Point Pleasant Beach which is pictured) and still manage to pack in the fun of the larger towns. Northern shore towns such as Asbury Park - were the inspiration for songs written by Bruce Springsteen. Atlantic City is famous for casinos and as the alleged birthplace of salt-water taffy. Cape May is an interesting and unusual seaside town, as parts seem to be frozen in time - thanks to it's huge concentration of Victorian architecture. (Cape May actually merits its own entry in the original Patricia Schultz book - see (visit link) )

Each Jersey Shore town has its own charm & most have boardwalks, pizza, mini golf ...and of course, sandy beaches!
