Constructed between 1938-1939, this building is faced with Texas Cordova limestone. When viewed in front of the reflecting pool, City Hall is an impressive place to visit.

?Although originally planned in 1929, the Great Depression sidetracked the construction of the new civic center. The city applied for a grant to help finance the construction of city hall after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt instituted the Works Progress Administration program. Approval of the grant led to the start of construction in March 1938 lasting 20 months.
