A favourite beach is Napier's Marine Parade, the long pebbly ocean foreshore is a little bit wild, with nothing between here and Chile.

The city of Napier is built on the east coast with a Marine Parade that follows the ocean bean frontage for miles. A cycle walkway runs along the entire length of the beach reserve. There is surf fishing off the beach and lots of room for beach walks. Probably not a safe swimming beach, but a great place for walking and beach combing.
Situated within the Marine Parade reserve are the Spirit of Napier Fountain, the Aquarium of New Zealand, Marineland, Skating Rink, Miniature Golf and the Marine Parade Salt Water Pools. In addition, the new Rotary Pathway and Cycleway is located on the seaward side of this Reserve and extends from the Seaman's Mission by the Port of Napier entrance all the way south to the Tutaekuri River at Awatoto.
