The Cape Cod Canal and its three bridges are maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but this recreation area is also greatly supported by the village of Buzzards Bay. There is ample parking and it is the best place to view the historic landmark Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge that won design awards when it was built in 1935.
There are large open grassy areas, picnic facilities, and it is the trailhead for the 14-mile Cape Cod Canal bicycle trail. You'll find people just relaxing, fishing, and walking along the trail as well. It is located south of the Bourne Bridge.
