The Banks is an Edwardian promenade, marking the terminus of the Hadrian's Wall walk, recently refurbished. Just in case you did not know where you are here is a useful map of the Roman artefacts overlaid on the more recent buildings.

The map shows the outline of the old Roman fort and where the wall would be if it had not been used to build the church and other local houses. It is not known how many people walk the Wall path, and they all start or finish here. The map is in the Roman style hut, along with other interpretive boards.
