This simple monument is a stone pedestal about four feet high with a bronze plaque on the top with the outline of a boy scout and the boy scout motto "Be Prepared," and below that the inscription, "The Unknown Boy Scout." There is another dedication plaque mounted on the side, pictured below.
The monument is located in Memorial Park on the corner of W. Sierra Madre Blvd. and S. Hermosa next to the City Hall and fire station in the upscale community of Sierra Madre, California, north of Los Angeles, and east of Pasadena. The signature piece of the park is a WWI era cannon on the corner, bearing the name of "Memorial Park." There is also a Weeping Wall veterans memorial and there are pic-nic facilities, a playground, tennis courts, and a senior center.
