The Art Nouveau building of The Municipal Theatre was erected between 1906–1909. The interior was designed by the Viennese architects Fellner and Helmer, while the exterior in Art Nouveau style is the work of Czech architects Rudolf Kríženecký and Emil Králík.
The pylons on the front were created by sculptor Jan Štursa. The author of the painted curtain is Theodor Hilšer. Since the year 1945 there has been a permanent theatre company there. On 1 July 1994 the Municipal Theatre in Mladá Boleslav started its activities. A new permanent professional company was formed and it has been cooperating with prominent contemporary Czech actors such as Ladislav Frej or Kveta Fialová. The theatre has managed to provide experience for a number of talented young actors in the short period of its existence.
