The historic town hall (former name Spilhus) was built around 1340 as a Gothic law court and market hall. Around 1520 the masonry ground floor was extended with half-timbered storey with proclamation oriel for use as a town hall.
A late Gothic head bearing the inscription "Far du gauch 1479" was added to scare off hawkers. In 1704 is a baroque ridge turret was added.
Since 1959 the building has been the Bergen-Enkheim Museum of Local History.
