The train crew boards the motor at the shop and travels east to the CSX siding called Dixie. Cars are checked off by the conductor against the wheel report. The motor couples to the cars left at Dixie and pulls them back to the bottom. Here the work of building the train begins. Cars are separated into the run-around track next to the bottom track or the scale track on the outside or to the main line which is the most further of the tracks in the bottom. The conductor calls the switches to the engineer and brakeman by walkie-talkie. Once all at the cars are switched out, the crew leaves out to drop off the cars at their destination. AS the day progresses, cars are dropped off and others are picked up and added to the train or left in sidings to wait transfer to Dixie in the afternoon for return to the CSX.
