The Oakland Airport, terminal 2 is a Leed ceritified building. Some of the important green initiatives are:
- Fluorescent lights use much less energy than convemtional incandescent ones
- Heating and Cooling sensors in the deliver fresh air the where and when it is needed so energy is not wasted air conditioning unoccupied spaces.
- Restroom Partitions are made from recycled and other rapidly renewable materials
- Ceiling Tiles are made from recycled materials that have the ability to reflect light, resulting in decreased use of heating and air conditioning systems
- Wall Wainscot are made from recycled materials
- Restroom Floors are made of terrazzo, a long lasting, durable polished concrete or epoxy material
