Dodger Stadium arose with considerable controversy after the city of Los Angeles scrapped plans for large public housing projects in the area, and many largely Spanish-speaking residents of the Chavez Ravine area were forced from their land after a protracted ten-year battle.

Initially also the home of the Los Angeles Angels from 1962-65, now in nearby Anaheim, the Dodgers have called this classic stadium home since the stadium opened in 1962. It is one of the few major league stadiums still without a corporate sponsor's name.

Dodger Stadium has been witness to baseball history hosting games in eight World Series, the 1980 All-Star Series, and in 2009 the semi-finals and finals of the World Baseball Classic. Retired numbers of greats like Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Roy Campanella and Jackie Robinson remind the fans of great days. There have been ten no-hitters at Dodger Stadium, including three by Sandy Koufax, and two perfect games pitched.
