Buttercrosses are common features of many old market towns ,in the United Kingdom but is this one unique in being supported on thirteen pillars?
The medieval Buttercross was where local farmers' wives used to sell butter and eggs. The clock was added in 1683. I can find no info on when the sundial was erected.
