Lexington Quarry is situated about two miles east of Lexington Reservoir in an area of rugged, east-west trending ridges and drainages within the Santa Cruz Mountain Range. This area is underlain by the Jurassic to Cretaceous Age Franciscan Complex and, specifically in the area of the quarry, by metasandstone.

There are many sign postings indicating one should stay away from the operation.
Type of Stone/Ore mined: hard graywacke sandstone of the Franciscan Complex
