Built in 1857 by Butterfield St James' church is connected to and was built with the Duncombe Mausoleum which also contains stained glass.
The chancel east and south windows are in the style of Gibbs whilst the north window is unknown. Even the simple, patterned designs are intricately detailed whilst the Crucifixion is depicted in grand colour in the eastern end. The northern chancel window is unusual with large background ruby, lilac and dark mauve colours which Pevsner thinks is similar to the style of Burne-Jones.
