Salt Lake City is the home of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as LDS or Mormons.) Temple Square occupies an entire city block in downtown Salt Lake. Church founder Brigham Young is responsible for the grid-like design of the city, with streets that radiate out using Temple Square as the center starting point. Nearby is the Tabernacle, which was under construction during our visit, the Geneological Research Library, and the Conference Center, which attracts thousands to the city every year.
Young missionaries are all around the grounds to answer visitor's questions during their tour.
During Christmas, the grounds are decorated with thousands of lights, making it a must see attraction during the holiday season. The gardens at Temple Square are world famous, a sight not to be missed in the summer.
