At 5774 Main Street Putney in Stratford CT is 32 acres of park that includes Connecticut history, the Stratford astronomical societies planetarium, a new playground, and a rose garden.

There’s lots for the kids to explore other than just the playground. The new playground really is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s so much more to do than play on the monkey bars and slide. When the park land was given to the town of Stratford as a park they also inherited the museum that the Boothe brothers had created.
The museum has great displays that will stimulate your childrens’ imaginations. There are a number of buildings on the site. My favorite is the model train museum with the Thomas the train engine by the front door. The model train museum is open to the public every Saturday from 1pm-4pm during the summer.
Every Wednesday night from 6:30-9:00 you are invited to visit the museum to learn more about model train operating and building. There is never an admission charge but they do accept donations.
My wife Jessica and I had our wedding photos taken at the flower garden at Boothe Park. The beautiful rose garden was in full bloom that October. The roses and fountain make for great photo opportunities.
There’s also a mini lighthouse and windmill at the park too. They don’t look so small to the kids. There’s a blacksmith shop there too. I’m ashamed to admit that I don’t know if it’s a working blacksmith shop or just a museum.
You can spend spend an entire week with your kids in Stratford’s Boothe Park and never see the same thing twice. Have fun exploring Boothe Park.
