Smyrna Presbyterian Church Cemetery, located on the former church grounds, was part of church property before the building was moved to house another Presbyterian congregation.

The original Smyrna church was built in 1838 near a local creek named Leith's Creek. This church served the Scottish Presbyterian community. The congregation built a new church in 1878. In 1911, a third building was constructed that was eventually moved several miles west for use as sanctuary for the Faith Presbyterian congregation. The creek mentioned in the plaque information is approximately one hundred yards southeast of the driveway leading to the cemetery location
