Although most of the movie was filmed on sets, shots were filmed in the Smithsonian museums themselves. In the movie, Hank Azaria as Pharaoh Kahmunrah leads a band of evil do-ers that pillage the Smithsonian collections. The "loot" is gathered up in the The Commons exhibit hall in the Smithsonian Castle.
Playing off the popularity of the movie, the Smithsonian is offering a map of the museums' display items seen in the movie (available for free at any Information desk) and has the actual "pile of loot" prop used in the movie in the Castle's Great Hall.
