Anne and her husband Mathew Smith were dedicated environmentalists. After selling their property in Richmond Hill, they moved to a 97 acre tract of land in south west Aurora and established a significant reforestation project on their lands, "HighTor," which are located on the Oak Ridges Moraine.
After Mathew died, Mrs. Smith continued with the reforestation project on her property at the northwest corner of Bloomington Road and Bathurst Street. She died December 1, 1987.
