The Cape May Point is a geographical funnel along the Atlantic flyway during annual bird migration. Many species of raptors, including broad wing hawks, peregrine falcons, bald eagles, golden eagles, and more are banded in the vicinity each fall in Cape May Point. The next land fall for birds is over 12 miles away in Cape Henlopen to the south. Every kind of banding occurs in Cape May each fall from raptors to song birds and even night trapping of owls. This is the place to visit if you are a birder. Visit the Cape May Bird Observatory for more information on local birding activities.
