The Spirit of Almaden is a 20 foot, cinnabar-shaded, steel sculpture depicting Almaden’s history. It has flat metal sheets cut in the shape of different people.

The Spirit of Almaden sculpture is located in Parma Park in the Almaden Valley neighborhood of San Jose, CA. The Almaden Library and Community Center are also right next to the sculpture.

The Spirit of Almaden is a sculpture made of flat metal images arranged in a way that one must walk around the artwork to see all of the figures.

The cinnabar coloring was chosen because it represents the color of mercury ore which was mined nearby at the time of the California gold rush. Above are views from the front walking around to the left. To the right is the dedication plaque. Below are views from the back walking around to the right.
