Summit Hall Farm Park is located on Frederick Road (Rt. 355) in Gaithersburg MD. This road has historically been a main route from Washington DC to central Pennsylvania, and as such, was the scene of action during the Civil War. CSA Gen. J.E.B. Stuart and his troops marched up this road to Gettysburg in 1863, scavaging much needed horses and supplies on the way.
In 1864, CSA Gen. Jubal Early and his troops camped here on their way to attack Fort Stevens in Washington DC.
