The First Presbyterian Church was organized October 29, 1842 at the home of Judge James Campbell with eight members. The first pastor was Reverend A.W. Campbell. The church met in homes and the courthouse until 1948 when a church was built near the corner of Third and Kentucky. The church moved to the current location in 1888. The original church building in the location was replaced with the present church building which was dedicated December 3, 1933.
