Sheridan Public Library; Sheridan, Indiana - Carnegie Library Buildings on Waymarking.com

The town of Sheridan, Indiana, received a 1911 grant of $12,500 from the Carnegie Corporation. The architect was Charles Bond of Carmel. The building was opened to the public without a ceremony on 6 December 1913. Library Occurrent, a publication of the Indiana State Library, described the building as "good in architectural exterior effect and artistic and practicable in its interior arrangement." Interestingly, the upper floor of the 4000 square foot brick building is suspended on cables.

The Carnegie library was open for 93 years until it was replaced by a new, much larger modern facility in May 2007. A local architect purchased the building and is now offering it for sale or lease. The building seems, from outside, to be in good repair, and the lot was well maintained when i visited.
