Located in northern Brookings County, South Dakota, Bruce had a population of 262 in July 2007, a 3% decrease from the 2000 Census.
The town was incorporated on August 12, 1861 and is made up of German, Norwegian, Dutch, Irish, Danish, and Swedish ancestries.
Bruce is about 15 minutes away from Brookings, SD, and about 5 minutes away from Oakwood Lakes, a great fishing area.
This post office was abandoned a number of years ago in favor of a new, modern facility.
It still stands on Main Street in Bruce.
