Joel Chandler Harris' Uncle Remus stories featured a trickster hero called Br'er Rabbit ("Brother" Rabbit), who used his wits against adversity, though his efforts did not always succeed.
I grew up on Uncle Remus and Br'er Rabbit! And who could forget the Disney Classic "Song of the South" inspired by these stories?
