Learned today that not all Historical Register locations are well maintained. Morristown College was orignally started in 1881 as higher education for Negros. When another technical school was constructed in the region, the college was forced to close due to financial problem with dwindling enrollment. It was sold in 1989 to become a second campus for Knoxville College. The two-year junior school closed in 1994 because of ongoing financial challenges. Since then, it has been extensively vandalized. The City of Morristown is interested in purchasing the district to reopen a few buildings as a community center - and raze the rest.
