The technical details and accomplishments of this machine are well-documented, if you follow the links you can view them. What I would like to post here is my impression of the entire attraction.
Having seen this machine on television at the annual competition, and heard it was from a nearby town - Greenfield, NH, I just concluded when the competition was over, it was dismantled, trucked back to Greenfield and stored away until next year. Surprise! Not even close.
On a beautiful day, I took one of my ambling jaunts through the smaller towns, and happened through, of course, Greenfield. Suddenly, what I was driving past caused my head to turn so fast I almost drove off the road! I saw the Trebuchet, but there was so much more in that glimpse, I knew I had to stop and explore. I hope you can gather an impression from these photos, (click on 'View Gallery' - lots of amazing visuals) but I also have to say: What Steve Seigars, and the Yankee Siege team, and their associates have created here covers about 15 acres, and blends awesome technical accomplishment, furious mechanical fabrication, chunky and fine artistry, and a snarky sense of medieval humor in a setting that invites exploration and participation, and offers a rare treat: good, weird fun!
