Jacques, the 20-30 foot tall fiberglass giant statue seen at Marblehead, on Lake Erie - originally located in Mansfield, Ohio in the early 1970's. In its original location it stood in front of Jacque's Sandwich Shoppe right on the edge of Mt. Vernon avenue, with Jacque's large arms and hands hanging over the street. Apparently the restaurant caught fire and was closed within a year's time. Eventually Jacques was deemed dangerous to passing traffic, and so he was revamped and relocated to the Lake Erie area.
The reason why Jacques has no hands is because when he was built Jacques carried a tray in front of him with an enormous sandwich on it. When he was moved, the sandwich which was cast with his hands as one unit, was replaced by a "sign" that he "carried".
